Self-Service Multimedia Workstations

The self-service media workstations in Holland 150 include equipment for duplicating, creating, and editing in a variety of media. Use of the media equipment is free of charge on a first come, first served basis. Academic Media Services is open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday, except on university holidays. Staff and other help resources are available during these times.

Video Duplication Capabilities and Resources

Users are expected to respect copyright by duplicating only videos for which they have copyright or permission to copy.

All video duplication equipment runs in real time; in other words, a 30-minute video will take 30 minutes to copy. The following formats can be accommodated for self-service video duplication:
•SVHS •Hi 8
•VHSC •Mini DV
•VHS •Digital 8
•8mm

Users traveling to another country, if they hope to use videotape players available there, may need to convert their videotapes to the format typically used in that country. (The alternative would be to take a videotape player along.) Equipment is available in the media laboratory to support these conversions.
