Videoconferencing

Academic Media Services administers Washington State University’s videoconference system, a synchronous distance learning technology that allows students throughout the State--and beyond--to take part in WSU’s educational experience.

The videoconference system comprises permanent facilities at WSU’s campuses, department and college owned systems, and Extension locations across the state. The systems IP transmission protocol enables AMS videoconference connections with videoconference sites world-wide.

AMS coordinates this distributed network into a cohesive communications device. The videoconference systems main objective is to enhance WSU’s academic programs. However, it is also used for meetings and events other than classes to support WSU’s administrative needs.

AMS Videoconference Services also provides technical development, management and support, scheduling, user training and courier services. Academic courses enjoy scheduling priority in AMS’ videoconference facilities. Meetings, events, interviews and other non-academic activities are scheduled as space and staffing allow.
