Some courses are videostreamed as a supplement to live
classroom instruction being delivered in a videoconference facility.
Videostreaming occurs by capturing a presentation and converting that
presentation to a compressed video file for viewing by the Real Player plug-in
on a computer. Some course videostreams may also be archived for on-demand
access by students authorized to review content.
Access to videostreams must be authorized by the course instructor and requires
specific user ID and password. Students who are taking a class via videostream
should contact their instructor before the first day of class to get the login
information. They should also discuss the way to get handouts and assignments
back and forth and any other expectations or problems that are likely to occur
during the semester.
When the course begins, you can access your class videostream
here.
Technical Support
Videostreaming requires a powerful computer, speedy Internet connections, and
the Real Player plug-in. To determine if your system has what is
needed, check the
System Requirements and Guidelines. This
page will also help you download the free Real Player and other plug-ins, if
you don’t already have them on your computer.
WSU Pullman manages the servers and staffs a technical support telephone number
during regular business hours and whenever a class with a streaming student is
being held. Technical Support: (509) 335-6504
Live Communication with the Instructor
Students attending a live class session via videostreaming can communicate with
the instructor through a live chat window that accompanies the course
videostream. The instructor has the chat window open on his or her
computer and replies to any questions or comments via the audio system in the
room. The link to this chat room is on the webpage for your videostreamed
class.
